オバマさんが再選されたことにより、今後四年間は、オバマ政権によって成立した保険改革法が撤回されることはなさそうです。 噂に聞いていた無保険での治療を少し経験して、そのベラボウさに改めて驚き呆れた経験から、少しほっとしているところです。

日本にいたころはまるで空気か水のように感じていた「病院に行く」という行為が、アメリカではストレスと恐怖の源で、まさに「メディケアが使えるまでは、必死で健康でいなければならない」と言われるとおりだと感じてます。

時にはしばらく会社勤めをやめて、自分のやりたいことを半年ほど集中できたらなあと思うものの、無保険が怖くて行動に移せません。 アメリカには「会社勤めをしばらくやめる」自由はあまり無いのだと感じられます。 よほどお金を持っていない限り。

皆様は保険制度一般、オバマケアについてどう思われますか。

「中間層」＝「ミドル クラス インカム」と解釈して調べたら、USA TODAYの先月の記事に $50,054として出てました。でもいろんな計算法（?）があるようです。これだと$40,000でも$100,000でも中間層の枠に入るんですね?
以下抜粋です：

Strictly speaking, the median, or middle, household income in the United States today is $50,054.

In the past few years, the "middle class" income range has been described as between $32,900 and $64,000 a year (a Pew Charitable Trusts study), between $50,800 and $122,000 (a U.S. Department of Commerce study), and between $20,600 and $102,000 (the U.S. Census Bureau's middle 60% of incomes).

「中間層」じゃなくて「家みたいな」というところが分からなかったんだと思うよ。書いた人は「ウチみたいな」という意味で書いたつもりだと思うけど。最初、コピペが途中で切れてるのかと思った（笑）
