Eビザ、1-94について

ただ今、1-94の申請が終わり大使館にてE2の書類審査を提出中の者です。
この書類審査で”承認します”という返事が来れば、大使館にて面接を行うことになると思うのですが、
もし”まだ承認が出来るか分からない”という結果になった場合は、面接はせずに1-94のままアメリカにいても問題は無いのでしょうか？
その場合、大使館へ提出済みの書類はどのように処理されているのでしょうか？
知っている方、教えて頂けると助かります。
