H1更新と転職

H1ビザの最初の3年間が過ぎたので、同じ雇用主で就労許可の更新手続きは済ませ、書類を受け取りましたが、国外へ出るとビザ更新をして新しいビザを持って再入国しなくてはいけませんので、メキシコ等へ休暇で行く事もままならなく不便です。
今年、転職も考えてるので、弁護士に尋ねたところ、「転職にはvalid visaが必要、でも転職のために新しいビザを取得する必要はない、再入国にはvalid visaが必要」とのことで、新しいビザと転職、どっちを先にすべきなのか押問答になってしまってらちがあきません。
どなたかH1更新後に転職、または転職してからH1更新した方がいたら教えていただけませんか?よろしくお願いします。
