アーバインの環境について

来年２月からロサンゼルスの専門学校に行きます。今はニューヨークで語学学校に通っているのですが、ニューヨークは地下鉄があり、どこに行くにも車はいりません。ロスは車が必要だと聞いていますが、車がなくても生活できるのでしょうか？たとえば、学校の近くに住むとか、もしくはバス？を使うなど。。。また、アーバインの環境についても教えてください。

全米一だった事も有ります。（治安の良さで）！
