＞ I just got a round trip ticket to Japan for $ 500 -


Which airline and what route is that ticket sold on?


I bought it for about 2 weeks in mid-May 2020 because Singapore Airlines had a Thanksgiving Holiday sale over Thanksgiving 2019 and LAX - NRT was $500 cheaper. The actual price was $489 for the desired dates.

However, due to this pandemic, there are no flights around the world and Singapore Airlines said they would hold the amount I paid until the end of this month this year, but since they haven't said anything until today, I guess this $489 will be lost. Too bad.

It is true that the fare is much cheaper if you go to Japan via a transit point.

However, I am also too old to fly direct, even a direct flight takes 11 hours and is very hard in economy.

When I used to fly SQ and Korean Air back here, the economy seats were overbooked
and I and a few others were put in business class, but on SQ there were only about 3 of us and we got full business class treatment, including meals and
souvenirs. On Korean Air we were overbooked
by 10 people and the aircraft was a 747, so business class was only for seats
and meals were still in economy.
