In your case, I am guessing that you probably could not log in because you could not receive a valid US SMS message in Japan. You might try the following method.
If you have a US SIM now, replace it and turn on Airplane Mode. Next, turn on Wifi and connect to your home Wifi. In settings, go to "phone" and turn on Wifi calling.
In this state, the phone line and SMS are connected to your phone via Wifi, so you should be able to receive US SMS. If your phone number was registered as a contact phone on your original Union Bank account, you will receive a 6-digit passcode for identification, which you can enter to log in. If that number is not registered as your original Union Bank account information, this method will not work.
There may be no other way to log in other than calling US Bank's Customer Service.
