プロバイダーなんて、懐かしい言葉ですね。昔はひとつの電話会社を利用して
AOLだ、Earth Linkだ、沢山プロバイダーがありましたが、現在ではその地の
電話会社か、ケーブル会社ぐらいしかチョイスがないんじゃないですか。
当 Northridge では電話会社の AT&T か、ケーブル会社の Time Warner
しか選べません。Torrance も同じようなものじゃないですか。一般にケーブル
モデムの方が料金が同じならダウンストリームのスピードは速いとされています。
また当地の AT&T では昔ながらの DSL と新しい U-Verse の選択があります。
Verizon 地域では FiOS ですね。近くの North Hill 市では FiOS の
光ケーブルを家まで引けるそうです。
