U.S. 3DS と日本の3DSでの狩友通信

お聞きしたいのですが、私は日本の３ｄｓを持っています。もちろん日本のゲームしか出来ないことは知っています。

私の息子は日本語が出来ないので、U.S.の３ｄｓを持ってモンスターハンター４をして遊んでいますが、私に狩友になって一緒にしたいと言って来ます。

日本の３ｄｓゲームとUSの3dsゲームで一緒に狩友は出来るのでしょうか?

出来るのなら息子のために買って一緒にやりたいと思うのですが、出来なければ結構高いものですし、私が主に３ｄｓを使うのは、脳トレや、TOEICなので自分のやりたいゲームでもないので買わずに済ませたいと思っています。

ご存知の方いらっしゃいましたら、ご回答をお願い致します。
