I wrote in another topic about late elderly people walking pilgrimage in Shikoku in Japan from the aspect of travel, but I would like to write a little more in this topic about an old man in his 70s walking the roads of Shikoku carrying a backpack of more than 13 lbs (6 kg) all day every day. ！

Regardless of age, it is impossible to walk an average of 16 mi (25 km) on a flat road every day in a row without preparation. Therefore, I walk about 5 km once or twice a week for the rest of the days I am not in Japan, and about twice a month I walk a route of 10 km or more with some elevation changes, or I hike in the nearby mountains of about 1400 ft.

I have been exercising locally for the rest of the year so that I don't get too fatigued here in Shikoku, and have been able to stay around 5'-6" / 130 lb for many years. I can pinch my belly next to my navel with my fingers and it is less than 3/4". I eat 3/4 of a bowl of rice. My wife is proud of her cooking and always prepares delicious meals, but when I ask her to reduce the amount of rice when I have unaju or katsudon, she gets angry and says, "That would upset the balance of the dish and make it tasteless.

I don't drink or smoke. Well, I guess I am a stiff. I used to smoke cigarettes in my late twenties, but I caught a cold and the smoke hurt from my throat to my lungs, so I stopped. When I was a student, I drank a lot of beer at a skydiving club meeting, which I couldn't even drink.

I will continue my walking pilgrimage in Shikoku until old age or dementia prevents me from going to Japan.

The road in front of my house is lined with pine trees that provide shade and are great for walking on hot days, but the area was developed decades ago and the pine trees have grown too tall. The amount of fallen leaves is ridiculous and they fall into the pool in the backyard, clogging the pool filter quickly.

Normally, the city of LA would have a city sweeper truck come and clean up the area, but I haven't seen a truck with a big round brush in 20 years, probably because the city doesn't have the budget. Therefore, the sidewalks and driveways that are under the city's jurisdiction are also cleaned by the house to which they belong. Yesterday I cleaned the streets and front yards with a twisted pot, but the amount of dead pine needles I left behind was too much to fit in that city green dumpster in one pass. Yesterday a piece of buried sprinkler PVC pipe leaked and I had to fix it.

I was so exhausted from all the digging and stuff that I took a nap and had a good night's sleep.

I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep at night after my nap, but then I fell asleep again.



Costco gas station always has a long line, so

I got up at 6:00 this morning to go fill up, and there is always a long line

only 3 cars at 8 pumps. Regular is also down a lot $ 3.899.

Costco has a large parking lot and there is room for EV charging, but

I guess management is not ready to do that yet.

There is a planned Nijya site on the north side of the Costco I frequent, across the railroad tracks,

and EV charging facilities are already in that parking lot.
