ホストファミリーにあげるお土産を悩んでいます。
おせんべいとかだとあまり珍しくないですよね?
外国人が喜ぶおみやげということで、このサイトを参考にしてみましたが

どれが一番、喜びそうなのか分かりません。
アメリカ人って、チェリーパイみたいな甘いものばかり食べている
イメージなので、おまんじゅうあげたら喜ぶものでしょうか?

一年に２度ほど日本へでかけては、仕事でお世話になっているアメリカ人へお土産を買って帰ります。いつも空港で買うのですが「東京ばなな」はパッケージもモダンだし、東京って入っているので喜んでましたよ。スポンジケーキにカスタードなので美味しいって言ってましたよ。あと、日本人の間でも人気の年輪バームクーヘン。（このブランドはＪＲなどのお土産コーナーやデパートの名店街にありますよ）これもパッケージがモダンだし、見ただけでケーキだってわかるから。毎回、違うものを探すのですがパッケージに英語が少しデザインとして入っているともらったほうもわかりやすいかな?と思ったりして探します。
羽田空港限定のバームクーヘンは、飛行機の模様や渦まきが可愛いので迷わず購入決定でしたね。
おせんべいよりコンペイトウのほうが喜んだなぁ。おせんべいならザラメ（お砂糖の粒）がついているのが男性アメリカ人ですが、すごくファンになって「また食べたいんだけど」といわれたこともあります。
楽しい日本滞在を、そして自分にも美味しいものをお土産たくさん買ってきてくださいね。

日本に住んでいる外人ですら あんこは、苦手な人が多いので、まんじゅうは、やめた方が無難です。
私は、日本に売っている洋菓子系なものにします。
バームクーヘン、東京バナナなどは、喜ばれると思います。
