I overstayed and got my green card last year. It took 2 years and 9 months. I got married right after I overstayed and processed for my green card, but when it came time for my interview, I was told "TOKYO" and thought that I could not come back to the US once I left （ I had a 1 year old son, so I was in trouble ） I spent months asking Japan and US agencies if I could have my interview in the US, but they kept asking me to come back. I had been inquiring for months about interviewing in the U.S. and Japan, but I was kept inundated with inquiries. I was passed the period of time without getting an interview. I hired a lawyer and explained the situation to him, and he told me that there was no problem （ and that he had a special route to contact the immigration office ） I wrote various application documents again and waited. Six months from there, I suddenly received a 10-year green card at home. I did not have an interview. Personally, I recommend you to hire a lawyer because I think it is the safest and fastest way. If you apply for a green card more than two years after your marriage, you will be issued a 10-year green card from the beginning.

You most likely obtained your green card within 2 years of marriage.
