test onlyとsmogcheck

素朴な質問ですがtest onlyとsmogcheckのってなにが違うんですかね？
車が古くなってくるとtestonlyになったりするような気がしますが。
知ってる方教えて下さい

test only station とそうでないsmog checkの違いは、test only は　名前のとうりテストだけ。もしテストをパスできなければそこでは修理できない為他の修理工にもっていかなければいけません。それとちがって普通の修理工でやっているsmog checkはその場所で、修理できます。
またDMVからRegistrationの手紙が来たとき"smog check only station"と来るようですが、たぶんあれはRandamlyにセレクトしてるんではないでしょうか？

test only stationと指示される車は、古い車で、スモッグチェックに引っかかりそうな車だと修理工場の御兄さんが言っていました。
その場では「ふーん」としか思わなかったんだけど、よく考えてみたら、修理が必要になりそうな車だったら、修理もできる普通のsmog check centerに持ち込んだ方が理にかなう気がするのですが。もしかしたら、そういう車だとわざと不合格にして修理して儲けようという修理工場とかがあって問題になったりしたのかな。。。？
なんて、いろいろしょーもない深読みをしたりして。

10年おちだとテストオンリーになるらしいです。お値段も上がるみたいですよ。
