To purchase tickets, enter US passport information as an American
Show US passport at ticket counter （ Show Japanese passport if asked ）
To enter Japan, show Japanese passport
＜ When returning to the US ＞
Show your US passport at the ticket counter
Show your Japanese passport when leaving Japan
Show your US passport when entering the US

But in the Corona Disaster, Americans need a visa.
So I have to do many procedures as a Japanese.
Is the following method sufficient?

To buy ticket, enter Japanese passport information as Japanese

To enter Japan, show Japanese passport

I learned from reading on the internet that many people had the same experience.
When I went back to my hometown, I was instructed by JAL to purchase a ticket with Hanako YamadaSmith as my name on the ticket and passport. I have read that it is now possible to put a space between "Yamada" and "Smith". However, when returning to the U.S., the name on my green card, Hanako Smith, is different from my name on my green card, so I get an X at the immigration kiosk, which is a hassle. I was even sent to another room. It is not that I cannot enter the country, but it is depressing every time. I have been coming to the US for about 20 years.
I did not come here because I wanted to, but because of my partner's situation.
Everyone has different reasons for coming to the U.S., and they may have different reasons, such as study, work, pursuing a dream, etc.
I think it is more like a dream. I didn't come to the U.S. with a positive attitude, and I still suffer from stress and anxiety and think about Japan.
Since I have spent every day in such a negative way, my English has not improved because I keep running away from it, and I continue to have a strange feeling of discomfort, as if I have missed the opportunity to get used to a very normal daily life.
