Our house is in a very good condition. The model we bought at home was not listed, so I guess it has already been discontinued.

Either way, the air conditioners available in our area are generally noisy. In the past, Sanyo used to make the most popular wall-mounted type in Tijuana, which every house in Japan has, and they were designed in Japan, so they were quite quiet.

Portable air conditioners require two flexible ducts to bring in outside air to cool the compressor inside the enclosure, and to bring the hot air out again, which is always a problem.

Our house here in the Valley, where it is hot as shit, has had whole-house heating and cooling facilities since it was built, but past owners added a plastic-walled sunroom （ and patio room ）, which are not heated and cooled in the main building. We used to use this patio room when our grandchildren used to stay at our house when they were younger, but they needed air conditioning and we bought a portable air conditioner.

However, this type of air conditioner requires a hole for the intake and exhaust ducts as described above, so I drilled a permanent hole in the wall, installed it, and made a box to cover the unit completely and locked it in. I searched for a similar topic before and couldn't find it.

When this storm passes, it will be hot again.

Here in the Valley it can get as high as 100℉ when the Santa Ana Winds blow until about November.

Extremely dry though.

I looked at the products and they all have one hose for exhaust air.
In other words, there seems to be no hose to bring in outside air. So outside air comes in through the door. That means warm air comes in. It seems inefficient.

Also, water is inevitably produced, but it seems to be evaporated there by pouring it over the warm part of the heat exchanger.
The whole thing is in the room, so it seems to make a lot of noise.

I think the type that fits halfway into a Window type window is the best.

All the coolers are sold out now.

The only Japanese type with separate outdoor and indoor units was still available at Home Depot.
It costs almost $2000.
This is a Window type （ about $500 ） and is absolutely quieter than the Window type . We are comparing the same 12,000 BTUs.
