I had a similar experience with a Korean, Japanese-speaking instructor
who signed me up.
I took the course three times. On the first day, I was taught from the position to hold the steering wheel, and after that, the instructor didn't even let me drive the car

I ended up paying him once ＄ 80 or so, and three times ＄ over 200, and it was like I was throwing money down the drain.
His Japanese is also very subtle with a Korean accent
I don't know if he's saying "change" or "flat".
He was so superior to me and I was paying for the service.

I had a friendly, joking instructor who made me feel comfortable and relaxed. but if the way he says it is intimidating or kind, it can feel intimidating even if he says the same thing. But it's easy to get a license in the U.S. without taking the trouble to take a course ？.

In my case, it is already a long time ago, but I have no driving experience in Japan
and I did not go to school.
In the U.S., I had to ask my husband to teach me out of necessity.
The barrage of cursing and yelling drove me mad, so I said, "Enough ！" and stopped learning from him.
Without telling him, I secretly used his car in the middle of the night to practice driving independently in a large open lot.
The first DMV test I took, I got a flat "No, you need more practice !
Then he practiced again and passed his second test with a "Very Good !" Then I practiced hard again and passed the second test with a "Very Good !
I also helped a woman in her early 40's practice driving and she never wanted to do it again
Her husband was not allowed to teach her to drive.
For the first time in my life, I've been on the road for the first time in my life, with horns honking all over the place, a near-miss. I was so stunned.
For example, when it was possible to make a right turn (even at a red light), she should have moved forward a little to check for cars coming from the left, but she didn't move forward and waited slowly. Even in Japan, many car instructors are pompous, uptight, and have a bad attitude. The manager of the store where I worked part-time had a wife and child but didn't have a car license.
It wasn't like he was so poor that he couldn't afford a car, but later I heard that he had a fight with the instructor at the driving school and decided not to get a license.　I guess he thinks he's a paying customer and that's what keeps you guys fed.

When you get back to where you left off after the road test
the examiner says （ that's why you didn't pass ） as you're getting off
it's more useful to have the instructor warn you while you're driving than to think huh, why?
