I was looking into insurance because I will lose my health insurance and was told that
the one I can get now would be Medical due to the loss of income due to Corona.
Since I am a Visa holder, I am not sure about medical and
I am worried that it will affect my future application for permanent residency.
I am also worried that not having insurance will cost me a penalty on my tax return.
I am sure there are other Visa holders like me in this Corona
What are you all doing about this ??

Has anyone applied for a green card last year ? How is everyone progressing ?

I started my application at the end of last year, but still no progress …
I only received a notice of receipt of documents immediately.
I guess I will just have to wait from here ….

I would like to share information here.

Aoi, I don't care about cards and photographic evidence, let's show the source.
then the people who are saying all kinds of things won't be able to say anything.

If what you are saying is true, there should be an official page on the immigration website explaining that marriages with GC holders will be processed and the CG will be delivered in a few months.
Just post that URL, in English, and you'll have a shot.

But if there is no official site or page that publicly states such a thing, it is hard to convince anyone.

The GC may say the date of issue, but not the date of application, so even if you show it to them, they can't prove how long it took you to get that.

The lawyer will tell you those things thoroughly. If the lawyer you are using is not that polite, it is suspicious and you should ask a ton of questions. Usually they'll take your e-mails for free. Well, if you look into it, California is so blah, it's laughable 🤣.

Hello, I would like to apply for a
social security card. I would like to apply for a social security card.

I have a copy of my family register that was obtained in 2018, so I don't think the consulate will translate it into English, so I was wondering if anyone has had their own translation go through?

I think maybe people here got their SSN a long time ago, so I looked at the SSN website to get updated information, and
there is no mention anywhere that a translation of the family register is required. I don't know why they need foreign untranslated documents in the first place.
There must be some kind of mistake ?.

I would like to know how to get back to Japan as soon as possible with my son (Japanese passport expired, US passport still valid) after his mother in Japan was diagnosed with an incurable disease. I have tried to make an appointment through the Los Angeles Consulate website, but no one can make an appointment until the end of April, and no matter how many times I call, I cannot get through. I believe that a consulate is only supposed to deal with us, Japanese citizens living abroad in California.
I would like to know from all of you how to handle cases like mine and my son's.
Please help us.

Green Card Application for Student Marriage

I have just married my American boyfriend, and now that we have our marriage certificate, we are going through the green card process.

So here is my question. I am on an F-1 VISA and have 12 college credits. I am going to be busy with VISA procedures, etc. I would like to destroy my I-20 and switch my status to I-797C if possible. The international office at the college does not recommend destroying the I-20 until I receive my green card. But I can switch to I-797C and stay. I was told.

Personally, I would like to change my status before I submit my green card paperwork and continue to take classes at the college for 12 credits or less.

Is there any risk there ?

I would appreciate it if you have had a similar experience or have any information.

I am thinking of applying for citizenship. I am aware that it is possible to obtain a long-term visa for a Japanese child as a former Japanese national when the child needs to stay in Japan for more than 3 months after renouncing Japanese citizenship, but I would like to know if anyone has any experience on how to give the spouse of a foreign national the right to stay in Japan as well. ?
Thank you very much.

Is it legal to earn Japanese yen remotely ? F1 visa.

Hello.
I am attending a university in California on an F1 visa.

I am currently working in Japan as a part time intern for a company that has a branch office in Los Angeles. 2020 I took a class in the fall semester as part of my curriculum that gave me credit for doing an internship. I am still continuing it as a part-time job. I am going back to LA this week, is it illegal for me to work remotely while being a student in the US with my current company ? Also, do I or the company only pay taxes in Japan or do I have to pay taxes in the US ? I have a certificate of residence in Japan. I am confused because some articles on the internet say that I am allowed to work if the money is transferred to my Japanese account in Japanese yen, while others say that I am not allowed to work over there. By the way, my job is to write blog posts for the company's website.

I will graduate in the spring semester, then I will return to Japan and join the company in September 2021.

I would appreciate it if you could let me know.

When you have a residence in the US, you are a resident of the US and a non-resident in Japan, which is illegal unless you have moved your residence abroad
Whether you are a student or an expatriate, the IRS does not care.
If your address is in the U.S., at least the U.S. IRS will interpret it that way
And if the Japanese company that pays your salary does not pay you well, there will be problems with tax withholding and social insurance.
# 7 don't even know such common sense ?

By the way
> F visa is a foreigner for 5 years, so,
F visa is a foreigner for life. Or can you become an American after 5 years ?
You're an odd one.

I remember a few years ago when I googled a similar question about F1 being a violation, I found a site where lawyers answer legal questions and it came up that it is a violation. The part about being in the US and working even if the work is outside of the US is what seems to be the sticking point. I'm not sure if they can actually crack down on it, but it seems like it would be a bad idea if they were to find out at some point.

# 7 is just saying that a student on F1 for more than 5 years is treated as Resident for tax purposes. I'm explaining that there is a difference between Resident and No resident to pay taxes. I'm saying that if you are a F1 and treated as a No resident, you don't have to file taxes in the US if you paid taxes in Japan.

Visa related

2.Labor Cert(1

(2) Labor certification PERM process 1 Year (3) Application I140 then I485 – if premium process 15 days, then 0.5 – 1.5 years
