I have just married my American boyfriend, and now that we have our marriage certificate, we are going through the green card process.

So here is my question. I am on an F-1 VISA and have 12 college credits. I am going to be busy with VISA procedures, etc. I would like to destroy my I-20 and switch my status to I-797C if possible. The international office at the college does not recommend destroying the I-20 until I receive my green card. But I can switch to I-797C and stay. I was told.

Personally, I would like to change my status before I submit my green card paperwork and continue to take classes at the college for 12 credits or less.

Is there any risk there ？

I am currently working in Japan as a part time intern for a company that has a branch office in Los Angeles. 2020 I took a class in the fall semester as part of my curriculum that gave me credit for doing an internship. I am still continuing it as a part-time job. I am going back to LA this week, is it illegal for me to work remotely while being a student in the US with my current company ？ Also, do I or the company only pay taxes in Japan or do I have to pay taxes in the US ？ I have a certificate of residence in Japan.
