I am currently living in LA accompanying my husband on an overseas assignment. The expiration date is until this summer or next summer, but with the recent Corona fiasco, I am prepared to be ordered to return home suddenly at any time.

I would like to be as prepared as possible in case that should that happen. The thing I am most worried about is getting rid of the furniture.

I found out something when I compared the recent Japanese-Japanese markets. Nijya Market used to be more expensive than other Japanese markets, but nowadays Nijya has many items on sale. And they also have snacks that are not available in other markets. For example, thin rice crackers with calcium or small fish, which are good for bones. Nijya's special fried white fish sandwiches and croquette bread are also cheap and delicious. Imagawa-yaki and taiyaki are also inexpensive and filled with anko (a small fish paste). The bento corner at Nijya Torus is popular and is crowded around lunchtime. They also pack ice in bags for you to take home, which is a big help.
