Onoda-san's YouTube video I mentioned in #1140 is from an ANA flight [London - Haneda].
This Business Class The ROOM is not used on other routes yet.

It is still a very private room, but it is separated from the rest of the cabin by a partition.
However, you may feel uncomfortable at first when you sit facing the opposite direction of the train.

When the Shinkansen arrives at the terminal station, all cross seats are turned around, but
Akita Shinkansen switches back at Omagari station, so the direction of travel changes, but
the seats remain the same. I guess some people will care about that and some people won't.

When I went to Japan and had few Japanese yen with me, I tried to avoid using yen
and paid with an American-issued credit card, but
I got a look of disfavor from the person at first glance, as if I didn't look good
and had to wait about 10 minutes for the check to be processed. I had to wait about 10 minutes for the check to be completed.
In Japan, people are judged based on their personal appearance.

Maybe it has nothing to do with "bad appearance," etc., but just the fact that we are not used to seeing credit cards, so we handle them with care. In any case, here, there is at least a swipe or IC reader slot at the cash register, and the person buying the card handles it. There is also a 7/11 near the cheap hotel where I often stay, but here too I have to hand my card to them. Mr. Abe is pushing for cashless, but JR and others still don't take cards or use old-fashioned card processing.

On the other hand, IC card payment such as Apple Pay and Suica is very popular. At airports and train stations, you can always find those IC readers.

I also want to hold up my smartphone and "beep" through the station ticket gates, so when I bought a new smartphone, I chose a $400 model with NFC functionality instead of a $200 one, which was sufficient. I was happy to put Google Pay in that model, but upon closer inspection, I found that it would not work in Japan due to the lack of Japan-specific Felica functionality in Japan.

In conclusion, I feel that the ease of using credit cards is not yet widespread in Japan as a whole.

Department stores and supermarkets are accustomed to accepting
because it has the VISA and MASTERCARD logos, just from a different issuer.
