The Kyodo System Japanese Language School was founded in 1948 and is one of the It is one of the largest Japanese language schools in the U.S., founded in 1948.

With five schools in the Los Angeles area, the Kyodo System has a total enrollment of over 200 students and, unlike Japanese schools and supplementary schools, is open to students of any race or nationality who wish to learn about Japan and the Japanese language, with the basic policy of "teaching Japanese as a second language". We are open to all students, regardless of race or nationality, who wish to learn about Japan and the Japanese language. Students who are enrolled in the school and have completed 9th grade or above in a regular high school are eligible to take a credit test and receive high school credit for a foreign language based on the results.
