Before everyone prepares for Thanksgiving break we have some reminders to share. In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the City of Long Beach facilities and services will be impacted on Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. We have a list of closures and services impacted for you to be aware of. To enjoy a stress-free traveling experience our Long Beach Airport (LGB) has some tips to share with those leaving town. ICYMI: All adults are now eligible for COVID-19 boosters. Every adult is encouraged to get vaccinated and boosters to prevent a possible COVID-19 winter surge. City of Long Beach Thanksgiving Week Schedule For the Thanksgiving holiday, City of Long Beach facilities will be closed, some services will be impacted while others will remain on schedule for Thursday, November 25, and Friday, November 26. As the holiday season is a time for festivities, gatherings and visits from out-of-towners, the City is providing tips to help ensure everyone has a safe and healthy Thanksgiving weekend. Read more Long Beach Airport Has Tips for Thanksgiving Travelers Air travel may still look a little different due to COVID-19, but Long Beach Airport still provides the same easygoing experience for which it is known. For a smooth stress-free travel experience, LGB offers these tips: Arrive 90 minutes before departure. Wear a mask while indoors. Enjoy the fresh air in our outdoor concourse. Drivers waiting to pick up passengers are encouraged to use the free Cell Phone Waiting Lot at 3401 N. Lakewood Blvd. Download the free LGB Airport app which provides information on arrivals, departures, parking and shopping. Visit website All Adults Now Eligible for COVID-19 Booster The City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services is now offering COVID-19 vaccine boosters to all people 18 years old and older. Studies have shown that vaccine effectiveness can begin to wane after six months and getting a booster will provide added immunity during the busy holiday season and beyond. Learn more Health Department to Host World AIDS Day event at Bixby Park The Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services, in collaboration with local community partners, invites you to take part in the Long Beach World AIDS Day 2021 event on Wednesday, December 1 at Bixby Park. World AIDS Day is observed every year to bring awareness to the international HIV epidemic, show support for people living with HIV and AIDS, and acknowledge those who have died from complications due to HIV.
