Mayor's Town Hall Forum

Please join Hermosa Beach Mayor Dean Francois for his first Town Hall Forum on September 30th from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.  The town hall-style meeting will serve as an opportunity for residents to meet the mayor, ask questions and have an open discussion about the City of Hermosa Beach and its community. The forum will begin with City Manager Lowenthal addressing community questions about City services and operations.

*Hispanic Heritage Month: September 15 – October 15*

National Hispanic Heritage Month takes place each year from September 15 – October 15. This month is dedicated to honoring the diverse history of generations of Latinos, whose aspirations and achievements have shaped the soul of our Nation. Throughout this month, we salute the vital contributions of more than 62 million Latinos who help make our Nation and our City stronger every day.

*Nutrition Pantry Food Drive*

The South Bay Community Coalition Against Hate is currently hosting its annual food drive to collect food for the Single Mom Project, that distributes food twice per week to single mothers. Today (9/27) is the last day to donate at various locations, including Hermosa Beach’s Police Department and Hermosa Beach City School District, please hurry and support this great cause. *City Tax Rebates and Exemptions*

We would also like to remind eligible Hermosa Beach homeowners who meet certain age, ability status, residency and/or income requirements that they may qualify for rebates on the Sewer Service Charge, Street Lighting and Landscaping portions of your yearly property tax bill. The deadline to file for the 2022-23 Rebate is October 10, 2024. *Election Update – Vote by Mail Ballots*

A friendly reminder that LA County will begin mailing Vote by Mail ballots for the November election on October 3rd. All Drop Boxes, which provide voters with a secure alternative option to return their ballot, will be unlocked on the same date for Vote by Mail voters. The City maintains a local Drop Box in back of the Hermosa Beach Library across from the Civic Center Parking Lot, and a full list of all drop boxes in LA County will be published on www.LAvote.gov [ http://www.LAvote.gov?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ]. A friendly reminder to residents that you must register to vote at www.lavote.gov [ http://www.lavote.gov?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ] by October 21st to receive a Vote by Mail ballot.

*Parking Permit Art Contest *

We are once again calling on all Hermosa artists to submit their designs for the City’s 15th Annual Parking Permit Art Contest. There is no fee to enter, and the winning design will be featured on the City’s 2025-26 residential parking permit. Entries are due October 31, 2024, and the contest is limited to one entry per resident. *Community Forum – October 7th*

Beach Cities Health District, City of Hermosa Beach, and Hermosa Beach City School District will host a Community Form on three Hermosa Beach ballot initiatives that will appear on Hermosa Beach Residents November 5th election ballot.
