We provide pediatric care in Japanese in Torrance, CA. Located right next to Torrance Memorial Hospital.
The director has experience as a pediatrician in Japan and is well versed in the differences in medical care and practices between Japan and the U.S., and provides patients with easy-to-understand explanations in Japanese.

Medical Services

Newborns ～ We see children up to 18 years old.

Sudden illness such as fever, checkups, vaccinations, allergies, asthma and other general pediatrics.

Referrals to specialists as needed.

Physical examination should be done once a year for children over 3 years old (more frequently for children under 3). The growth and development of the child will be checked according to the age of the child

My name is Naoko Matsumoto and I practice pediatrics in Torrance, California, in the Los Angeles area.

There are many Japanese living in this South Bay area where Torrance is located. Some are permanent residents, some will return home in a few years, some have no plans to return, some are married to non-Japanese, and many more. As a pediatrician, I would like to be of some help so that everyone can give birth and raise their children with peace of mind.

I was born and raised in Japan. After working as a pediatrician in Japan, I came to the United States for research purposes. My original plan was to return to Japan after a few years, but I got married and had a baby here, and became a pediatrician in the US.

When I gave birth, I had not yet become a doctor here, so I remember feeling uneasy because I did not understand the medical system. Also, I came to the U.S. alone, and there were many things I did not understand. I think it must be really difficult for those who come to the U.S. with their children to deal with schools, medical care, and so on.

I hope that the presence of a Japanese pediatrician will give you some peace of mind and help your child grow up healthy.

We issue PCR test for COVID and a We issue COVID test certificate which is required for COVID PCR test and entry into Japan.

PCR testing is now available at our clinic for COVID-19 ・ Influenza ・ RS virus can be tested at once and results are available on the same day （ in as little as 1 hour ）. This is useful if your child has a fever ・ cough ・ runny nose, etc. Please make a consultation appointment as usual. The cost of the test will be billed to your insurance company.

We also issue COVID-19 test certificates required for entry into Japan. This test is available for all ages and costs $ 175, which includes the issuance of the test certificate. For more information about the PCR test for entry into Japan ・ Please check our website to make an appointment.
** Except for a few health insurance plans, insurance will not cover PCR prior to travel. Using insurance with false names of illnesses, etc. is a fraudulent insurance claim and we do not do this. Please contact your insurance company and let them know if your pre-travel PCR is covered. The fee will be reduced accordingly.

For Pregnant Women

We offer a free prenatal interview, so please feel free to contact us for more information.

For those moving from Japan

Please feel free to contact us about medical checkups and vaccinations for entering school. We recommend that you make an appointment for a checkup first. Vaccinations can be given together with the medical checkup.

Whenever possible, we ask you to send us a copy of the immunization record in your mother-child notebook and a photo of the immunization record before the day of your checkup. Please call us for more information.

Also, it is sometimes not possible to get all required vaccinations before school starts. In such cases, we ask that you make a plan to receive the necessary vaccinations in the future and bring them to school so that you can attend school. Therefore, there is no need to rush to Japan to get the necessary vaccinations before coming to the U.S. Of course, you may get them. Of course, you may take them.

Please bring any documents that need to be filled out here, such as medical examinations, etc., to the school.

If you are changing your family doctor from another clinic in the US

You can order your previous doctor's medical records for free. You can fill out the form on our website at matsumotomd.com and fax, mail, or hand-deliver it to your previous doctor's office. Usually it takes 1 － 2 weeks to get the form back to us. Of course, we can see you even if you do not have your previous doctor's records.
