To become a pediatric dental specialist, one must become a dentist and then graduate from a university or other program to become a specialist as determined by the American Dental Association. I have been practicing children's dentistry for about 25 years after graduating from the program. And I hope to continue to help children to have healthy teeth throughout their lives.

Deciduous teeth have a different morphology from permanent teeth. The symptoms of caries are also different from those of permanent teeth. The criteria for selection of fillings and coverings are also different from those of permanent teeth. We select the best treatment for deciduous teeth.

Even the same tooth can be treated differently depending on the time since its eruption. Optimal prevention and treatment is given to newly erupted young permanent teeth with the utmost care.

Leaving baby teeth decayed or being unaware of newly erupted permanent teeth can complicate and make it difficult for the completed adult permanent dentition to develop problems later. For these reasons, I consider a child's first visit to the dentist's office to be an important event in his or her life, and I try to handle it carefully. I have been practicing dentistry to this day after completing a specialty course in pediatric dentistry, based on my belief in the prevention of caries in children and young adults, early treatment, and the development of proper dentition. And I hope to continue to help children to have healthy teeth throughout their lives.
