WHAT'S NEW     Torrance Civic Center Master Plan The Torrance Civic Center has remained the hub of the City since 1956. After all this time, the Civic Center is in need of either a replacement or refurbishment. The Torrance Civic Center Master Plan aims to assess various factors such as costs, building conditions, and operational issues to see what improvements can be made. Please take this survey to let us know how you would like the Civic Center to improve. TORRANCE CIVIC CENTER MASTER PLAN SURVEY   Alert SouthBay Survey Alert SouthBay conducted a region test of the Wireless Emergency Alert system on Tuesday, January 9 at 11:20 a.m. Please take this survey to help Alert SouthBay better understand the reach of the test. Let us know if you did or did not receive the test notification. TAKE THE SURVEY   California Competes Tax Credit The application window for the California Competes Tax Credit is now open! There are $164 million in tax credits available. The deadline to apply is Monday, January 22 at 11:59 p.m. Businesses interested in learning more can register for an online webinar on January 11. APPLY FOR TAX CREDITS   Community Development Department's 4th Quarterly Report The Community Development Department’s 4th Quarterly Report for 2023 is now available. This quarter’s publication focuses on the City’s Noise Monitoring program, the updated noise study, the charitable fundraising ordinance, and additional ongoing quarterly updates. Past reports can be viewed on the Community Development quarterly reports page. VIEW 4TH QUARTERLY REPORT   New WINDOW Installation Arrives at Del Amo Fashion Center A New WINDOW installation has been added at the Del Amo Fashion Center! The rotating public art display is part of a collaboration between the Torrance Art Museum and Discover Torrance. WINDOW PUBLIC PROJECTS   COYOTE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM   Listen to Candid Conversations: `Coyotes in Torrance' CitiCABLE's Associate Producer/Writer Kim Edwards features the City's coyote management program in the latest episode of Candid Conversations. Peggy Orenstein, Coyote Management Program Assistant for the City's Community Services Department, talks about the latest coyote trends, dispels myths, and shares tips on coexisting with coyotes safely in our neighborhoods. Montgomery to Memphis. This film follows the story of Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement in an up close, personal way. It was selected for the National Film Registry in 1999. MORNING MATINEE   January 15 Martin Luther King Jr. Day City Hall and all Torrance Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Street sweeping is canceled on Monday. Monday refuse and recycling will be collected on Tuesday, January 16. MLK DAY     Now - January 31 2024 Hometown Heroes Military Recognition Program Application Window We are now accepting applications for the 2024 Hometown Heroes Military Recognition Program. Sponsoring a banner costs $300.
