Green City Business Certification

At its February 25th meeting, City Council recognized nine local businesses for earning a Green City Business Certification. This recognition goes to businesses doing their part to help the environment by following eco-friendly business practices.

Hermosa Beach Little League Opening Day

Spring is in the air, and that means it’s time for Hermosa Beach Little League Opening Day. Hermosa Beach Little League will celebrate its first game day of the season on Saturday, March 1st. The community event will include baseball, food, a performance by the Valley Middle School Band and the introduction of all participating Little League teams. This annual celebration is always a great event for families, players and fans alike, so come out, enjoy the fun and support our young athletes as they take the field for another great season. PEG Access Channel available via Cablecast App 

We’re excited to announce that it’s now even easier to watch the City’s Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) Access Channel, where our City Council meetings are regularly aired. Thanks to the efforts of the City Clerk’s Office, with support from the City Manager’s Office and Pegasus Studios, the Cablecast Application is now available for download on mobile devices and smart TVs. 

This new option means that, in addition to streaming our meetings on YouTube and directly from the City website, residents can access our government channel without needing a Frontier or Spectrum subscription. The app also gives access to other local government channels, providing a great way to stay informed. We encourage all residents to download the Cablecast App and stay connected with the City. Residents who need help with downloading this app, please contact the City Clerk’s Office at (310) 318-0204.

Parking Permit Update 

Residents are advised that existing residential parking permits will stay valid until sales for the 2025-26 season begins on  April 1, 2025. In the meantime, the City will enhance its online platform for a better user experience. Enforcement will begin May 19th. Annual Street Improvements: Pier Avenue  

At its February 25th meeting, City Council awarded a contract for annual street improvements which includes repaving Pier Avenue from Hermosa Avenue to Pacific Coast Highway. The work is expected to begin Spring 2025 and is estimated to take approximately six weeks to complete. We anticipate road closures will be minimal but strongly encourage residents to avoid traveling on Pier Avenue during construction. 25th General Assembly 

The South Bay Cities Council of Governments (SBCCOG) invites you to join us on Thursday March 27th for the 25th Annual General Assembly. This event brings together the region’s thought leaders to exchange ideas and discuss key issues impacting our community. This year’s program celebrates the 30th anniversary of the SBCCOG and will reflect on past achievements while also outlining a path forward to tackle challenges in sustainability, housing, homelessness, and transportation 

The conference will feature expert speakers and an exhibit hall, with participation from the community, as well as county, state, and federal legislators representing the South Bay. Get Involved

St. Patrick’s Day Parade 

Join us on Saturday, March 15th, for the 29th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, hosted by the Hermosa Beach Chamber of Commerce. Bring your friends and family to enjoy a day filled with live music from some of our community’s favorite local bands. 

The parade begins at 11 A.M. near City Hall, traveling west along Pier Avenue, and wraps up at Hermosa and 10th Street. Stick around for live music and a dance performance at Pier Plaza starting at 1 P.M. The festivities run until 4 P.M. To accommodate the parade, Valley Drive, Pier Avenue, and Hermosa Avenue will be closed from 4 A.M. to 3 P.M. Plan ahead and come ready to celebrate. In Case You Missed It 

Hermosa Beach's annual Homeless Count took place on Thursday, February 20, 2025. Each year, the City participates in the Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count to collect crucial data on homelessness in the community. These counts help the City and homeless service providers develop policies and tailor strategies and services to end homelessness on a regional level. A big thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help, your time and effort make a real difference in our community.
