Torrance City Council meeting will begin at 5 p.m. for a closed session with the regular session convening at 6:30 p.m. View the presentation from the first public hearing. Here are tips to prepare you for summer 2024 registration: Set up your account on our new registration platform at Torrance.Rec.Us Check your profile page for a residency badge Add household members to your profile Build your Fast Track list VIEW AVAILABLE CLASSES Disaster Assistance Loans Available for Winter Storm Recovery Residents, including homeowners and renters, as well as businesses and non-profits affected by the severe winter storms from January 31 to February 9, 2024, can now apply for Disaster Assistance Loans through the U.S. Small Business Administration. Businesses can receive up to $2 million, homeowners up to $500,000, and personal property loans up to $100,000, with interest rates as low as 2.688%. Application Deadlines: Property Damage: July 16, 2024 Economic Injury: February 18, 2025 A Disaster Loan Outreach Center is available both physically and virtually. APPLY TODAY Metro Update On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the LA Metro Board adopted a locally preferred alternative (LPA) for the South Bay extension of the C Line. LA Metro will move forward with the Right-of-Way (ROW) Hybrid Alternative as the preferred alignment, which would extend the C Line roughly 4.5 miles from Redondo Beach toward new stops adjacent to the Redondo Beach Transit Center and the Mary K. Giordano Regional Transit Center in Torrance. MORE INFORMATION Names on the Wall Remembrance The Torrance Historical Society hosted its annual Memorial Day program honoring the dedicated men and women who have given their lives in the service of their country. As part of the program, the Torrance Historical Society read the 151 names on the Veterans Memorial Wall. The names on the Wall include war losses from World War I to those in the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. From June 1 through August 31, 2024, immerse yourself in a cultural extravaganza of music, movies, art, and live theater. Most of the festival events take place at the Wilson Park Amphitheatre.
