The 6th Grade team came in 3rd place; the 7th Grade team came in 1st place; and the 8th grade team came in as top scorers in their grade level, Arsh Gupta, Aum Patel, and Siwon Kim will represent TUSD at the LACOE Math Day competition in April! SEE VIDEO Park Project Updates Our Community Services Department is dedicated to enhancing your local park experience with ongoing projects. Alongside preparing for a concrete pour at Guenser Park's basketball court after successful demolition, our team has been diligently repairing the flagpole at Torrance Park/Kendall Field, replacing the playground slide at Greenwood Park, and enhancing pathway lights at Seaside Heroes Park. Dodger Day 2024 Join the Torrance Community to represent your City with pride as the Los Angeles Dodgers take on the Houston Astros! Torrance residents can purchase tickets online beginning Thursday, March 28. There is a limit of six tickets per transaction. Come on out and represent Torrance! View the event flyer. This fantastic addition made possible by the hard work of Eagle Scout Thomas Machian and the incredible help of his troop, Boy Scouts 719, provides shade and space for our volunteers who greet visitors at the front gate. A huge thank you to all who contributed to this project. It’s another step towards whyTorrance is an even greater place to live, work, and play. LEARN MORE AS SEEN ON CITICABLE Torrance Celebrates Its Women of Influence For the 9th year, the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce awarded and celebrated seven “Women of Influence.” Women from all walks of life, including business, public service, and the military were honored for their contributions to the greater South Bay area. After all this time, the time has come to assess the Civic Center’s layout, structures, and their ability to continue to serve the public. The Torrance City Council has directed the advancement of the Torrance Civic Center Master Plan, which aims to first collect Public Feedback about the Civic Center and to assess various factors such as costs, building conditions, and operational issues to see what improvements can be made. Please take our brief survey by Sunday, March 31, 2024, to let us know how you would like the Civic Center to improve. If you have any questions, please email LandManagement@TorranceCA.Gov. TAKE THE SURVEY     March 23 In My Own Little Corner  Chryssie Whitehead, accomplished actor (“Grey’s Anatomy”, “Revenge of the Bridesmaids”, “Warehouse 13”) and dancer (“Radio City Rockettes”, “Chorus Line”) explores the impact mental illness has played in both her and her mother’s life. Through song and story, and a bit of dancing, Chryssie shares about her mother's death, her career and stories of her highs and lows through to her mother’s passing. She explores how it is possible to get proper help, medicine, and tools to find clarity in one's life with bipolar disorder or any mental illness. BUY TICKETS March 24 Household Hazardous and Electronic Waste Collection Los Angeles County is hosting a free waste collection event at the Torrance Courthouse parking lot on Sunday, March 24. Residents can drop off hazardous materials like paint, batteries, motor oil, light bulbs, and more! You can visit http://LACSD.org/HHW for a full list of items that will and won't be accepted.
