*Craig Putnam Retires After Almost 25 Years of Dedication and Craftsmanship*

After a remarkable almost 25-year career bringing exhibits to life, Craig Putnam is retiring from the San Bernardino County Museum. Known for his creativity, attention to detail and unwavering dedication, Putnam has played an integral role in shaping the institution’s exhibits and visitor experiences.

Since joining the San Bernardino County Museum in May 2000, Putnam has contributed to countless exhibits, using his expertise in woodworking, fabrication, painting, design and engineering to create immersive and educational displays. Whether crafting intricate models, designing interactive elements, or ensuring the durability of exhibits, he has left an indelible mark on the museum.

“Craig is an exhibit genius, he is masterful, a true craftsman. He has inspired so many people through his exhibits, both visitors and staff. Over his 25 years, he has impacted well over 2 million visitors,” said Museum Director David Myers. “His skill, passion, and creativity have shaped so many of our exhibits. While we will miss his craftsmanship, we are incredibly grateful for his contributions and wish him all the best in retirement.”

Throughout his career, Putnam has been known not only for his technical skills, but also for his work on landmark projects such as redesigning the Colton Area Museum in Colton, revamping all the division halls, but specifically the Hall of Biodiversity, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to be enjoyed for years to come.

The San Bernardino County Museum hosted a retirement celebration in honor of Putnam on March 17 where colleagues, family and friends had the opportunity to express their appreciation for his years of service.

The San Bernardino County Museum is located at 2024 Orange Tree Lane, at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $10 (adult), $8 (military or senior), $7 (student), and $5 (child ages 6 to 12). Children five and under are admitted free. Museum members receive a 50% admission discount. Parking is free and the museum is accessible to people with disabilities.
