LA County Press Conference Highlights Recovery Details, Launch of Household Relief Grants

This morning, LA County officials held a press conference and provided the latest updates on the recovery efforts following the Palisades and Eaton fires, including the progress of Phase 1 and Phase 2 debris removal. In addition, officials announced the opening of applications for the County’s Household Relief Grants [ https://lacountyrelieffund.com/?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term= ], which will provide direct financial relief for homeowners and tenants most affected by the fires. *LA County Household Relief Grant Now Accepting Applications*

The LA County Household Relief Grant [ https://lacountyrelieffund.com/?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term= ] provides immediate financial assistance to LA County residents who have been directly impacted by the Eaton and Palisades fire and windstorm events. This program bridges financial gaps and promotes the general welfare of affected households until insurance or government recovery resources become available. Applications are now open and the deadline to apply is March 12, 2025. LA Region Small Business and Worker Relief Funds

The Small Business Relief Fund provides direct relief through cash assistance grants to small businesses and nonprofits who incurred structural loss, structural damage, equipment/inventory loss, or revenue loss because of the disaster. The Worker Relief Fund provides direct relief through cash assistance grants to workers who lost employment or income because of the disaster. *LA County Wildfire Relief Funds Receive $8 Million from FireAid*

*EPA Completes Phase 1 Hazardous Material Removal in Record Time*

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced it has completed its Phase 1 hazardous materials mission related to the catastrophic Los Angeles County wildfires in under 30 days. EPA crews identified and cleared hazardous materials from 13,612 residential properties and 305 commercial properties, paving the way for debris removal and other stages of the recovery effort to move forward. Voluntary Soil and Water Testing by Community Action Project LA

Disaster recovery experts from multiple universities have come together to expedite and empower household and business recovery decisions and have created CAP.LA [ https://academics.lmu.edu/studyla/studies/communityactionprojectla/?utm_content=&utm_medium=email&utm_name=&utm_source=govdelivery&utm_term= ] to collect soil and water samples from yards, gardens, and pools to test for possible wildfire pollutants. There is no cost to the homeowner and results will be provided once testing is completed. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed debris removal on the first residential property to undergo Phase 2 cleanup operations. Free Medical and Mental Health Clinic in Pasadena

The Eaton Health Village, in partnership with the Department of Mental Health, is providing free medical and mental health care every Monday and Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pasadena Seventh-Day Adventist Church (1280 E. Washington Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91104).
