New! Residential Street Sweeping
Street Sweeping

Did you know Ontario will soon have residential street sweeping? This service will improve our streets and protect our community, the City of Ontario is implementing new street sweeping parking restrictions. This program is essential to prevent flooding, protect our stormwater systems, and keep our streets clean.

*Why is this important?*
Street sweeping plays a crucial role in removing debris that can clog storm drains, leading to flooding and pollution of our waterways. It’s also a key requirement of both state and federal environmental permits that requires the City to comply with water quality standards.

*Key Things to Know:*
Sign Installation: You’ll begin seeing the installation of street sweeping restriction signs in neighborhoods beginning in late October.

Community Improvement: Tip of the Month
Smoke Alarm Check

*Have you checked your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors?*

As Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3rd, remember that it's the perfect time to test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. As you change your clocks, test all smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure they are working correctly. Change batteries if needed and replace devices that are no longer working properly. Smoke alarms are required to be installed in all sleeping areas, in hallways outside of the sleeping areas, and on every floor of a residence. Carbon monoxide detectors are also required on each floor of a residence outside of sleeping areas. Taking the time to do these simple checks could make all the difference in an emergency. Let's make safety a priority as we “fall back” this month!

If you have questions about the Weed and Refuse Abatement Program, visit Ontarioca.gov/CommunityImprovement [ https://www.ontarioca.gov/CommunityImprovement ] or call (909) 395-2007.
