Culver City's approach continues to show results in reducing homelessness while providing shelter, housing, and resources

New Culver City Homeless Services

The City of Culver City continues to lead with care in addressing homelessness. New numbers released this week highlight the holistic and comprehensive approach.

The latest data, as of December 2024, shows the City has accomplished the following:  


* Culver City’s Project Homekey [ https://www.culvercity.org/News/Project-Homekey-Opening ] Permanent Supportive Housing site has housed 41 residents since opening in October 2023. 
* Culver City’s Project Homekey Interim Housing site has temporarily housed 44 participants since opening in February 2024.
* Culver City’s Wellness Village [ https://www.culvercity.org/News/Culver-City-Safe-Sleep-Program-Video ] Safe Sleep-site has served 87 participants since opening in August 2023.
* Culver City's Motel Lease Program has sheltered 93 participants since July 2023.  
* Culver City’s Mobile Crisis Team, which launched in March 2024, has helped provide placement for 56 unhoused individuals and has responded to 929 calls for service, contacted 669 persons, and performed 134 mental health assessments. 

Since Culver City declared a homelessness emergency in January 2023, the City continues to take action towards solving homelessness, including opening permanent and supportive housing sites, opening a safe-sleep site, providing shelter at two leased local motels, launching a mobile crisis response team, street-based healthcare, and extensive outreach services.

Culver City will conduct its 2025 Homeless Point-In-Time (PIT) Count in February following the delay due to the Los Angeles wildfires. The 2024 count revealed that 115 persons were unhoused on the streets of Culver City, a 32% decrease from the 158 persons counted in 2023 and a 66% decrease from the 229 unhoused persons counted on the street in 2022.

Updated data will continue to be published quarterly, along with an email update to community members who are interested in tracking the City’s progress. The City of Culver City remains dedicated to leading with care, helping our unhoused neighbors live a better life.
