Driving lessons in English

I would appreciate it if anyone who has taken driving lessons in English could tell me if my experience this time is normal.
I recently took driving lessons in English for a total of 4 hours and had a very unpleasant experience. 4 hours of constant anger and shouting at me about what I did not do, including while driving, and to top it off, I was told that you do not understand English at all because you did not do what I taught you many times. I was told that I did not understand English at all because I had not done what I had taught him many times. I was angry, because I was not used to driving in the U.S., and I thought I would not be able to do what I could do if he was yelling at me next to me.
However, since this is America, I am thinking that my experience is normal and other instructors may be similar. I would be very grateful if you could share your experiences with us.
