■ SS Midway Museum
This is a museum of a Navy aircraft carrier in downtown San Diego. The docked USS Midway was an aircraft carrier that carried aircraft and soldiers to war for nearly 50 years before retiring in 1995.Since the museum opened in 2004, it has become one of the most popular naval aircraft carrier museums in the U.S. The museum is open to the public, and is located on the grounds of the USS Midway. A retired Navy sailor narrator provides a self-guided tour of the museum, including the engine room and bridge.

■ Sunset Cliffs Cave
This is one of the caves along the Point Loma coastline. It has a unique shape with a large hole in the middle of the ceiling that you won't find anywhere else.

■ Balboa Park
Built in 1868, this park is a National Historic Landmark and one of San Diego's most iconic landmarks. The park's 1,200 acres are filled with a variety of colorful plants in a number of themed gardens.

■ Spruce Street Suspension Bridge
This 275-foot suspension bridge is considered one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. It was built to allow visitors to walk to and from the 70-foot-high canyon. The view of the canyon from the bridge is very beautiful.
