Here's The Latest

Mayor and Police Chief's 4th of July Letter

Mayor Saemann and Chief Phillips have issued a joint letter urging everyone to celebrate the 4th of July safely in Hermosa Beach. As we come together to celebrate our nation's independence, they remind both residents and visitors to follow local laws, be considerate of your neighbors, and prioritize safety during the festivities. To read the full letter, please click here [ https://www.hermosabeach.gov/Home/Components/News/News/4288/28?utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery ].

Fireworks Safety Reminder

As we approach the holiday, the City of Hermosa Beach reminds all residents and visitors that fireworks are strictly prohibited within our community. To further protect public safety, the City Council enacted an ordinance which prohibits the use, sale, and possession of fireworks in Hermosa Beach. The ordinance also introduces administrative citation fines for violations, with a fine of $1,500 for the first offense, $3,000 for the second, and $5,000 for a third violation. Please help us keep Hermosa Beach safe and enjoyable for all by attending professional firework displays across the South Bay.

Spectrum PEG Channel 8 Update

City's Spectrum broadcasting equipment had reached its end of life and required an upgrade to continue providing Public, Educational, & Government (PEG) programming on Cable Channel 8. Staff has been collaborating with Spectrum since the project was approved as part of the 2024-25 budget to install fiber technology that enables high-definition broadcasts. Spectrum had initially expected completion by the first quarter of 2025 but due to connection issues, the launch date was pushed to June 25th. We’re excited to announce that our HD resolution channel is now officially LIVE.
