United Baggage Check

I will be flying to Vancouver on United Airlines.　I have heard that Spirit Air and other airlines have strict cabin baggage size checks, but what about United? ？ Will everyone be checked at the gate boarding gate to see if they meet the baggage size requirements? I am planning to bring this bag, but when I stretch it out, it measures 47cm, which is 2cm over the size of the bag. It will fit in the regulation size box at the gate, but I am worried because I saw a case at LLC on Youtube where there was a problem with pushing the handle part in and out.　If anyone has used United recently, please let us know.
