Kinokuniya is one of the largest bookstore chains in Japan with over 80 stores and 35 sales offices worldwide. In addition to Japanese-language books and magazines, we also focus on stationery and general merchandise. We continue to create stores that stimulate the intellectual curiosity of a wide range of readers regardless of genre.

1969年、海外第一号店となるサンフランシスコ店をオープン。現在はニューヨーク、サンフランシスコ、ロサンゼルス、シカゴ、シアトル、ポートランド、ダラスなどの主要都市を中心に、計11店舗を展開しています。各店舗では、日本語の書籍、雑誌の提供は元より、文具や雑貨の取り扱いにも力を入れています。また、「優れた日本文化の紹介」「ローカルへの文化的貢献」というミッションの下、北米各地で開催されるコンベンションへの出展、店内イベントの開催、及び学術機関にサービスを提供する営業所の運営などを行い、その活動は多岐に渡ります。
