CRIMINAL DEFENSE

I am experienced in Criminal Law, having handled cases including Domestic Violence, Commercial Burglary, Petty Theft, Hit and Run, Drunk in Public, Minor in Possession of Alcohol, Resisting Arrest, Assault and Battery, Trespassing, and Rioting. Criminal Law is a broad field and often a proactive approach is extremely beneficial.   I never forget that you are more than the charges you are facing, and I work to protect your future, your freedom and your human dignity in the face of an often indifferent and cruelly harsh criminal justice system.

DUI DEFENSE

I have decades of experience defending DUI cases in California Courts and in front of the DMV.  Many lawyers do not understand the interaction of the Administrative authority of the DMV and how it interplays with the Criminal Law.  Often, less experienced attorneys fail to understand how to best resolve these conflicting authorities. In addition, the years of experience in this specific area of practice has allowed me to develop personal relationships with many DMV Hearing Officers, prosecutors and Judges.

EXPUNGEMENTS

If you have been convicted of a charge in the past, the law provides the ability to "clean up" your record through a process known as expungement.  An expungement allows a person with a criminal conviction to file a petition to withdraw the prior "guilty" or "no contest" plea and, if granted, the Court will substitute a verdict of "not guilty".  You may even be able to retroactively reduce a Felony conviction to a Misdemeanor.  Although this process does not "seal" your record, it allows you (in MOST circumstance) to truthfully state that you have no criminal convictions.

TRAFFIC TICKETS

 ​In the course of my criminal defense practice I encounter people who have very minor issues with law enforcement that can get blown out of proportion.  Traffic tickets are inconvenient and often people neglect to deal with them promptly.  Consequently, what started out as a simple infraction can escalate to a misdemeanor.   My experience allows me to provide excellent support for clients facing simple traffic infractions.  I work out deals that avoid putting points on your license and taking money out of your pocket.
